The solution

One deep closed loop. A useful amount of energy.

The idea is deliberately simple: circulate a working fluid through a deep U-shaped closed loop, collect heat from the earth, and bring that energy back to the surface where people can actually use it.

At the surface, the recovered heat can serve district heating, greenhouses, buildings or process loads. Where temperature and economics support it, part of that thermal energy may also be used to drive an Organic Rankine Cycle generator.

Hopewell’s concept is under development and will require site-specific engineering, drilling design and performance validation.

Why this scale?

The middle geothermal.

Geothermal (GSHP) is proven at the residential scale. Large advanced-geothermal projects are aimed at utility scale. Hopewell is pursuing the space in between: a repeatable system sized for a community, development or industrial heat load.

Not one project. A platform.

The bigger opportunity is repetition. If a community-scale geothermal package can be engineered, demonstrated and standardized, the same basic idea may be deployable in many cold-climate markets.

That creates a path to projects serving local customers while also building a technology and development company with a much larger addressable market.

Hopewell’s long-term ambition: build a made-in-Manitoba geothermal platform, become a recognized developer of advanced geothermal systems, and create the corporate scale needed to access public capital markets.

The origin

An old idea. The right toolbox.

The concept behind Hopewell began more than three decades ago: go deep enough, bring the earth’s heat back in a closed loop, and use it where cold-climate communities need energy most.

Early conversations were happening in Manitoba’s building-engineering world. The missing connection was to the oilfield — an industry already developing directional drilling, downhole tools and completion techniques that could help make deep closed-loop concepts practical.

Hopewell exists to bring those worlds together: geothermal energy demand above ground and oilfield capability below it.
